Ginette Henderson
Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist
Having previously studied Modern Languages, I qualified as a Speech and Language Therapist in 2005 from City University. I am passionate about language, in particular how we acquire and learn it, so a move to train as an SLT was a natural step. I have now spent more than 15 years working for NHS commissioned organisations as a paediatric therapist, supporting children to acquire speech, language and communication skills; skills for life.
I am well practiced in delivering services to primary school aged children with Speech, Language and Communication Needs, specialising in speech sound disorders and language difficulties. I use both formal and informal assessment to inform my therapy and understand each child’s specific needs. I have experience in writing care plans and reports for a range of purposes and to monitor a child’s progress over time.
My ethos is to place the child at the heart of therapy by working with parents, families and, when appropriate, schools to identify a child’s difficulties, set targets and deliver therapy to secure successful outcomes for their communication development.
My services can be flexible and adapted to suit family and school life. More recently, I have developed a successful teletherapy service allowing me to work efficiently and effectively with children at home and/or in schools. I am innovative with resources, adapting them to a child’s interests or to reflect school curriculum topics where appropriate, making therapy more interesting and meaningful for the child.
I am also able to deliver training to school staff and have created bespoke training sessions to meet identified needs.
